Eight complaints have been filed by Islamabad police against the leaders and members of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), including its founder Imran Khan, a day after the party’s highly anticipated demonstration came to an end.
Hours after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif urged “tough decisions” to rid the nation of political unrest and guarantee calm, the federal capital police took action.
The prime minister told the federal cabinet on Wednesday, “We have to decide whether we save Pakistan or allow sit-ins to take place.”
Shahzad Town, Sihala, Khanna, Shams Colony, Noon, Nilore, Tarnol, and Bani Gala were among the police stations where the cases were filed. Bushra Bibi and the PTI’s central leadership, which includes Sheikh Waqas Akram, Salman Akram Raja, and Ali Amin Gandapur, were identified in the recently filed FIRs.
