Recently, a record-breaking auction saw the first few new banknotes from the United Kingdom sold for eleven times their face value.
With a face value of £78,430, the new banknotes have raised an incredible £914,127 for charity through successful auction sales.
June saw the release of the new £5, £10, £20, and £50 notes picturing King Charles III.
The BBC reports that many low serial numbered banknotes were auctioned off, but the queen was given a full set of the first issues, including ones with a serial number ending in 000001.
A sheet of 40 linked £50 notes and a £10 note with the serial number “HB01 000002” sold for an astounding £17,000 during the bidding.
