When the Irish actress, who was born in America, was barely 13 years old, she was nominated for her first Oscar in the best supporting actress category for her performance in Atonement.
She has never won the best actress award since, despite being nominated three times for the role in Little Women, Brooklyn, and Lady Bird.
With her new flicks The Outrun and Steve McQueen’s Blitz, the 30-year-old is now scheduled to compete at the 2025 Oscars in the lead and supporting actress categories.
The youngest actor to garner five or six nominations would be her if she were to win one or both of them.
Inspired on the life of writer Amy Liptrot, Nora Fingscheidt’s film The Outrun depicts a Scottish lady who battles alcoholism while residing in fast-paced London.
She goes back to Orkney in an attempt to stay sober and discovers herself in the process.
Ronan says she learned a lot from her first experience working as a producer on a project, which is the Scottish drama.
She stated: “Actors are shielded from a lot of what goes on behind the scenes, but occasionally I think it would be beneficial for an actor to be aware of the drama that occurs when they are not present.
