Hall & Oates were a renowned team in the 1970s and 1980s, releasing song after hit, including “You Make My Dreams,” “Maneater,” “Rich Girl,” and many others.
However, despite their popularity, John Oates believes his collaboration with Daryl Hall was creatively limiting.
“I cannot speak for Daryl, but I believe we both valued the collective. We both emphasized Hall & Oates because it was so significant; it’s where we established ourselves,” he told News.
We established a remarkable legacy and body of music that will endure. Because of this, I believe we were both confined. I will not speak for him, but… I felt that every time I gained momentum with an individual.
