KARACHI: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz-led (PML-N) coalition government’s main ally, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P), has alluded to resigning from the Treasury benches because of “growing dissatisfaction” with the Center, according to a Sunday story in The News.
MQM-P Convener Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, who serves as Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training, said, “Nobody knows when we’ll leave the government after becoming disgruntled.”
If Siddiqui’s remarks are implemented, the current Islamabad government may face significant difficulties. After no party won a simple majority in the elections held on February 8, the MQM-P and a number of other parties joined together to create the alliance.
The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) provides support to the ruling coalition.
