The star’s well-known performance in the 1963 film Cleopatra served as the inspiration for the photo session that was part of the Harper’s Bazaar magazine interview.
“We were actually supposed to meet up for tea at her house, and then she fell ill,” adds Kardashian.
The two decided to talk on the phone instead. What caught her attention, she recalls, was Taylor’s outlook on life.
“We discussed defending people,” Kardashian says. “She understood her power and her beauty.”
The new documentary series Elizabeth Taylor: Rebel Superstar delves into Taylor’s life, covering everything from her Oscar victories to her seven marriages.
Taylor, who was born in 1932, spent the majority of her life in the spotlight. At the age of twelve, she starred in her first successful film, National Velvet, after moving to Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, from England when she was seven years old.
Later, for the role of Cleopatra, she became the first actress to sign a million-dollar contract, and her romance with co-star Richard Burton provoked a paparazzi frenzy.
Kardashian continues, “She loved love and she was very honest about her love life. She would obviously fall in and out of love.”
Taylor wed eight times; the Welsh actor Burton twice. Her marriages were well reported.
Additionally, the celebrity would use her notoriety to advocate for it.
