A public inquiry was informed by the hospital’s safety head that Lucy Letby had “good intentions” even though she did not raise concerns about the nurse.
When Letby killed seven infants and attempted to kill seven more, Alison Kelly was the Countess of Chester Hospital’s executive lead for safety and director of nursing.
According to the inquiry, Letby’s connections to mysterious fatalities on the unit were a source of worry, as senior consultant Dr. Stephen Brearey informed Ms. Kelly in May 2016.
But according to Ms. Kelly, she “just didn’t see it as a safeguarding concern” at the time.
