On Wednesday, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar issued a strong warning to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), warning the party about the potential political ramifications of its recent letter to the International Monetary Fund.
In an exclusive interview on tv “Redline with Talat,” Kakar described the PTI’s attitude as “highly irresponsible,” and expressed alarm about the party’s decision to involve the IMF in Pakistan’s internal political problems.
Mr Kakar’s statements follow the PTI’s attempt to encourage the IMF to consider Pakistan’s political stability in any future bailout talks, which has ignited controversy and created fears in political circles.
The interim prime minister did not mince words when voicing his opposition to the PTI’s intention to directly address the IMF about Pakistan’s political stability.
Haq Kakar, emphasizing the availability of established channels for addressing electoral issues, slammed the PTI’s decision as ill-advised and potentially harmful to the national interests.
“This is a very bad move,” Haq Kakar stated in the televised interview. “There are relevant platforms for resolving electoral issues. “This letter will have no effect.”
