In 2007, the British child vanished while on a family vacation in Portugal.
Christian B, a convicted child abuser, was later charged with being accountable, a claim he refutes.
The 47-year-old is currently on trial in Germany for a number of other sex offenses; she has never been legally charged in relation to her disappearance.
The judge in the present instance stated on Wednesday that his arrest warrant had been revoked.
In an official statement, the Braunschweig Regional Court stated that “the court has lifted the arrest warrant, as requested by the defence, as the court denies that there is an urgent suspicion of guilt on all counts.”
Christian B’s attorney, Dr. Friedrich Fülscher, responded to the ruling by telling News: “I predicted the defendant would be found not guilty on the first day of the trial, and now that all the evidence has been presented, it appears that this will actually happen.” If Mr. B had not been the accused, I’m positive that the charges would not have resulted in a trial.
