LONDON: Oxford University, a prominent British university, has received several emails and a petition expressing concerns regarding the former premier’s candidacy for the ceremonial position of chancellor, as the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), who is currently incarcerated, is seeking nomination for it.
According to university officials, the office has received multiple emails expressing concerns regarding the individual’s prior support for the Taliban and instances of corruption.
The university informed News that early October would see the announcement of the qualified candidates’ shortlist for the chancellorship of Oxford.
From behind bars, Khan stated that he had nominated himself to be Oxford’s next chancellor because the university supported him throughout his formative years and he wants to “give back” and that “I am determined to giving back to the world the resilience, determination and integrity that life has taught me, even when the odds are stacked against me”.
