Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi’s moral position in hosting the tournament, while Pakistan is battling India in the ICC over a dispute over the location of the highly anticipated Champions Trophy 2025.
On Sunday, Naqvi paid PM Shehbaz a visit at his home and gave him an update on the latest events surrounding the ICC Champions Trophy, which is scheduled to take place in Pakistan in February or March of next year.
However, after its government failed to issue a no-objection certificate (NOC) for the squad to travel to the neighboring nation, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) declined to send its team to Pakistan.
The BCCI has insisted on using a hybrid format for the tournament, which would include matches for the Indian team.
