The Punjab government has been ordered by the Lahore High Court (LHC) to switch from gasoline-powered motorbikes to battery-powered electric vehicles.
After a hearing on the smog mitigation lawsuit, the order was issued in a written ruling.
A policy addressing small and medium-sized public transportation in Lahore is necessary, according to Justice Shahid Karim.
He also gave the order to closely monitor motorbikes in the city, stressing that a rigorous application of the smog policy would be beneficial.
The case was postponed until November 20th by the court.
