Russia issued a warning to Britain on Monday, stating that Moscow would retaliate against British military stations and equipment both inside and outside of Ukraine if Ukrainian forces utilized British weaponry to attack Russian territory.
Foreign Secretary David Cameron’s statement last week that Ukraine has the right to use British weaponry to strike Russia prompted British Ambassador Nigel Casey to be called to the foreign ministry for a formal complaint.
According to Russia’s foreign ministry, Cameron’s comments went against an earlier pledge that long-range weapons supplied to Ukraine would not be used against Russia and acknowledged that Britain was now effectively involved in the conflict.
