LAHORE: An official notification states that all public and private schools, colleges, and institutions in the province will be closed on Friday, or today.
The administration also enforced Section 144 in the province for the next two days, October 18 and 1, according to a notification on Thursday.
The notice stated that all demonstrations and gatherings would be prohibited throughout the province.
According to the notification, the government decided to use Section 144 in order to uphold law and order and safeguard people’s lives and property.
This development follows the ongoing demonstrations in Punjab that were sparked by the reported rape of a college student in Lahore.
