SEOUL: As part of an investigation into the legitimacy of President Yoon Suk Yeol’s brief attempt to impose martial law, South Korean officials made a fresh effort on Tuesday to search the presidential office and gather evidence, according to the Yonhap news agency.
Due to his declaration of martial law, Yoon was suspended from his presidency and impeached on Saturday.
According to Yonhap, who cited the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO) and police, a joint investigation team was attempting to gain access to the presidential office’s security service’s computer servers in order to obtain phone records, including one used by the police commissioner.
Authorities have attempted to raid the presidential office twice in response to the rescinded martial law declaration.
