The officer, who went by Kwame, claimed to have witnessed “way more than what you see in the spy movies” throughout his service.
He went on to say that stereotypes can lead people to believe that all MI6 employees are white, middle-class, and male. “That is untrue,” Kwame remarked.
The UK’s foreign intelligence agency is called MI6.
Its main responsibilities include fighting terrorism, interfering with hostile governments’ operations, and enhancing cyber-security. It is entrusted with obtaining intelligence abroad to strengthen national security.
Speaking to news Radio 1Xtra, Kwame became the first black spy to ever be featured in a broadcast interview.
