KARACHI: On Tuesday, Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah established a task force and issued new orders for the removal of encroachments and illegal parking throughout the city. It appeared that the relevant authorities had disregarded his warnings to all local and civic organizations three months prior to eliminate the threat.
He issued a directive on July 12 to the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, town municipal corporation, and city administration to remove encroachments from public spaces with the assistance of the police. He noted that the city had been defaced and that traffic flow was being seriously hampered by encroachments on walkways, green belts, streets, and footpaths, but that no authority was prepared to remove them.
