ISLAMABAD: The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has highlighted serious flaws in Pakistan’s budget-making and implementation procedures, highlighting notable shifts in the amount and makeup of expenditures in comparison to the parliamentaryly approved yearly budget, The News said Tuesday.
According to the “Pakistan’s Technical Assistance Report: Budget Practicing” published by the IMF, a review of the nation’s most recent budgetary results has shown significant departures from scheduled budgets.
Although political unpredictability and an unstable external environment are partly to blame for these disparities, better fiscal institutions can assist produce a more credible budget, tighten its execution, and stop policy slippages.
According to the Fund, the difference between the approved budget and actual spending through technical means for fiscal year 2022–2023 was about 55%.
