They were accused of “cowardice” by the Frenchwoman whose husband is on trial for inviting 50 men to rape her over a ten-year period, and she said they ought to have denounced him to the police.
Gisele Pelicot, 71, testified in Avignon on Tuesday for the third time, renouncing her right to remain anonymous.
In addition to drugging and raping her, her 72-year-old husband Dominique Pelicot has already acknowledged letting some 50 other people violate her while she was asleep.
The majority of the other men deny rape, saying that either Mr. Pelicot forced them to have sex with her or they believed she was unconscious during roleplay.
