When Avanti West Coast first announced the issue on Tuesday, it mentioned that certain lines were blocked and that there would be delays and cancellations as a result.
One of the most significant train lines in the United Kingdom connects Glasgow and London to other major cities such as Liverpool, Birmingham, and Manchester via the West Coast Main Line.
On Tuesday night, there were significant delays for a number of trains leaving London for locations farther north; one route to Manchester Piccadilly was running 152 minutes behind schedule.
A few southbound trains experienced further delays, refused to stop at specific stations, ended early, or were completely canceled as a result of the malfunction.
