US politicians from both parties arrive in Taiwan for an unexpected visit.

On Thursday, a group of US congressmen, including both parties, arrived in Taiwan unexpectedly.

This group of officials is the most recent to defy China’s demands that the United States sever relations with the self-governing island. The trip was led by Rep. Mike Gallagher, R-Wis., a well-known opponent of China, and consisted of four other Congressmen.

During the visit, Gallagher stated at a press conference, “The United States, Democrats and Republicans, stands with Taiwan, for your freedom and for ours.” “For as Taiwan goes, so goes the world.”

Tsai Ing-Wen, the president of Taiwan, met with the group and expressed her hope for more communication between American and Taiwanese leaders.
