As part of the compensation package for the families of the Chinese nationals murdered in the Dasu suicide bombing in March, the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) decided to distribute $2.58 million, and the federal cabinet has accepted this decision, The News reported on Sunday.
A compensation of Rs. 2.5 million has also been approved by the executive body for the Pakistani driver who was murdered in the terrorist incident.
The Inter-Ministerial Committee (IMC), which suggested the compensation amount to the ECC based on purchasing power parity and GDP per capita, received approval from the cabinet.
The ECC accepted a summary that the Ministry of Water Resources had submitted for approval of a compensation grant during its meeting on Thursday.
Every family of the Chinese nationals will receive Rs143.4 million, or $516,000, as part of the Rs717 million compensation package.
The Ministry of Water Resources did not have the necessary cash in the budget, so the additional grant will be organized by the Finance Ministry directly.
The funds will be moved to the Pakistani embassy’s Beijing account, where they will be used to reimburse the relatives of the Chinese nationals who have passed away via the proper methods.
