The probability of monsoon rains in the majority of Punjab’s districts during the next 24 hours has been declared by the province’s Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA). Concerns regarding possible flooding in large rivers and rising water levels in dams and canals are raised by this forecast.
The PDMA spokesperson claims that the region’s rivers, dams, and canals are already seeing an increase in water levels as a result of the monsoon rains. In the Indus River, low-level flooding has been reported near Tarbela and Kala Bagh.
The Jhelum River’s Mangla Dam might experience medium-to-high-level flooding, according to the PDMA, which is predicted to happen between August 1 and August 4.Furthermore, there is a considerable chance of flooding in the Chenab River at Qadirabad, Khanki, and Marala.
It is predicted that the current monsoon rainy spell will last until August 4, which raises the possibility of ongoing high water levels and possible flooding in the impacted areas.
