Omar Ayub, Secretary General of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), announced the name of the party’s nominee for the position of National Assembly Speaker on Wednesday, ahead of the session set for February 29.
The PTI has nominated Amir Dogar from NA-149 for Speaker of the Lower House of Parliament, and Junaid Khan from Malakand for Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly.
Gohar Khan, chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Isnaf (PTI), stated that no other party is entitled to the Sunni Ittehad Council’s reserved seats.
“Every ruling of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) did not defend our constitutional rights. “There will be no session until the reserved seat decision is made,” he asserted.
PTI chairman Gohar Khan claimed a session of the Punjab Assembly was held ‘illegally’ while session of the National Assembly will also be held illegal —scheduled to be held on February 29.
“The meeting must be convened after notification of all the members as SIC submitted four applications to the ECP,” he told reporters.
The PTI chairman stated that 60 women and 10 minority seats are reserved in the National Assembly.
