A Coca-Cola commercial in Bangladesh is drawing a lot of flak for attempting to break its alleged connection to Israel in the midst of the ongoing attack on Gaza.
The 60-second ad, which was featured on social media and television, is drawing criticism for its callous handling of Bangladesh’s ongoing boycott.
Since October 7, calls for boycotts of businesses thought to have connections to the Israeli military or government have grown significantly in numerous Muslim-majority nations, including Bangladesh. As a result, Coca-Cola sales have significantly decreased in certain areas; local media in Bangladesh has reported a 23% decrease in sales.
