ISLAMABAD: According to The News on Friday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has nominated Defense Minister Khawaja Asif and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari for the High-Powered Selection Board (HPSB), which has the authority to promote federal bureaucrats from Grade 21 to 22.
The PM who preside over HPSB meetings has the authority to appoint a member of parliament or the Minister Establishment Division to the Board.
The Principal Secretary to the PM, the Secretary of the relevant ministry, the Secretary Cabinet Division, and the Secretary Establishment Division are also members of the committee.
Asadur Rehman Gilani, the present Secretary to the PM, would not be attending the meeting because he is a Grade-21 official and his personal promotion case will be taken into consideration.
Appointments and promotions from Grade 21 forward are determined by the High-Powered Selection Board.
