Britney Spears disclosed in her autobiography, The Woman In Me, that she had an abortion over 20 years ago while she was dating Justin Timberlake.
In an Instagram post, the 42-year-old singer apologized to anyone she may have “offended any of the people I genuinely care about” and included a video of Justin Timberlake performing on Saturday Night Live.
Spears said she had an abortion while dating the former NSYNC member in her book The Woman In Me, which was published in October.
“I wanna apologize for some of the things I wrote about in my book,” Spears stated in her post. I sincerely apologize if I upset anyone I truly care about.”
“I also wanted to say I am in love with Justin Timberlake’s new song ‘Selfish,'” she continued, sharing a clip of Timberlake singing with US chat show host Jimmy Fallon. It’s hilarious, and I can’t stop laughing whenever I see Jimmy and Justin together.
Sanctified, another of his new compositions, was also commended by her.
Spears and Timberlake met at the Mickey Mouse Club, which served as a springboard for a number of celebrities, including Christina Aguilera and Ryan Gosling. In 1999, Spears started dating Timberlake at the age of 17.
Up until 2002, the two were a couple.
Spears called the unplanned pregnancy a “surprise” in her memoir.
