At a campaign event in Las Vegas on Sunday, President Joe Biden allegedly confused French President Emmanuel Macron with previous French President Francois Mitterrand while narrating a Group of 7 (G7) conference he had attended following his election in 2020.
“America is back,” according to Biden, was among his first remarks made during the meeting. He said that this elicited a response from “Mitterrand” in Germany, who later corrected him to “from France.”
“And Mitterand from Germany — I mean, from France — looked at me and said…’You know, what… why… how long you back for?” stated Biden.
Afterwards, it was brought up on social media that Mitterand, the president of France from 1981 to 1995, passed away in 1996.
