According to official results, former President John Mahama, the opposition candidate, won Ghana’s presidential election on Saturday.
According to data from all 16 regions of the nation, Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia received 41.6% of the vote, while Mahama received 56.6%.
It is the largest victory margin in twenty-four years.
According to Jean Mensa, head of Ghana’s electoral commission, 60.9% of voters cast ballots.
In images shown on national television, Mahama was seen grinning and cheering with his family in response to the announcement of his official status as president-elect.
He later said that he was “humbled” to have “chalked one of the best results in the electoral history of Ghana” alongside his National Democratic Congress (NDC).
