KOHAT: Following days of talks, Jirga member Malik Sawab Khan said on Wednesday that the two warring tribes in Kurram had signed a 14-point peace deal aimed at bringing about peace in the region, which had been beset by violence for weeks.
Sawab Khan, a member of the great jirga, told News that 45 members of each warring faction had signed the 14-point peace deal.
He declared, “Both sides have agreed to hand over their weapons to the government,” and threatened to take action if either side didn’t comply. Additionally, he continued, the agreement stipulated that all bunkers would be demolished.
A committee would be established within 15 days to begin implementing, the jirga member added.
