Awais Leghari, the federal minister for energy, stated on Thursday that Pakistan’s energy sector urgently needs reforms and that the government is attempting to lower the cost of producing electricity.
Leghari said that bringing much-needed assistance to consumers by bringing down energy prices is one of the government’s main priorities during a press conference in Islamabad.
He said, “In Pakistan, the price of electricity per unit should be less than 10 rupees,” emphasizing that bringing down the price will help the country’s businesses and people in general.
In order to do this, Leghari disclosed that the government is now updating contracts with electricity providers.
