On Saturday, a sizable contingent of merchants, political figures, and locals assembled in Lower Topa Murree to document their opposition to the Punjab government’s “Murree development plan.”
PTI, PPP, JUI, and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) officials were among those who joined the protest demonstration to show support for the demonstrators. Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, the leader of the Awaam Pakistan party and a former prime minister, also attended the demonstration.
In order to prevent any undesirable circumstances during the protest rally, the authorities also enforced Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) in the region.
The Joint Action Committee (JAC) called for the demonstration to be held.
