ISALABAD: The lawyers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, were given a “last chance” to cross-examine the only witness left in the £190 million settlement case on Tuesday by an accountability court in Rawalpindi.
With the defendant’s attorneys attempting to reschedule the hearing without allowing the witness to be cross-examined, the judge voiced its displeasure.
The pair in question is accused of embezzling billions of rupees from the national exchequer, a charge that accountability court judge Nasir Javed Rana heard in the case at the Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi.
Bushra’s attorney, Usman Gul, was unable to appear in court due to illness, the lawyers informed the judge. As the last witness in the case, the investigation officer (IO), they said, could not be put under cross-examination.
