The second Japanese climber who vanished while trying to reach the top of Golden Peak “Spantik” in the Nagar Valley has been found dead.
On June 10, the four-person Japanese team, under the direction of Ryuseki Hiraoka and Atsushi Taguchi, started their climb of the 7,726-meter summit. The group had made the decision to go up without the help of neighborhood porters.
The two climbers vanished while attempting to navigate the difficult terrain over 7,000 meters.
On June 15, during a rescue effort, the body of one climber was found, while the search for the second climber was ongoing.
