The member who supported the 26th Amendment to the Constitution, Mubarak Zeb, has explained his reasoning and the assurances the federal government offered to him in return for his support. Zeb claimed in an interview with a private television channel that he carefully considered his options before casting his ballot, taking into account a number of considerations.
Zeb said he was extremely unhappy with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party because he felt they did not treat his brother, Rehan Zeb, who was killed, well. He thinks his brother’s soul will be at peace when he votes for the amendment.
Zeb said that the federal government promised him an advising role and promised to provide funding for the Bajaur district in exchange for his vote. He also disclosed conversations he had with the authorities about apprehending his brother’s murderers.
