Due to alleged ties to the Chinese government, which TikTok and its parent firm ByteDance deny, the US government created a law requiring the app’s sale or ban.
The social networking corporation said it would appeal to the Supreme Court after losing its appeal against the law in a ruling rendered on Friday.
In order to give the Supreme Court more time to think on the issue, TikTok and ByteDance have now filed a lawsuit to temporarily halt the law.
The DOJ has demanded that the motion be denied, claiming that its fundamental claims have already been “definitively rejected.”
