Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has been told by officials that the stranded Pakistanis who arrived in Beirut from Syria will be transported back to Pakistan on a leased jet on the evening of December 12 or 13.
According to a statement released by the PM’s Office on Wednesday, the prime minister chaired a crucial meeting on the evacuation of Pakistani nationals from Syria and was briefed on their situation.
Ahsan Iqbal, the Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, was assigned the responsibility of making sure the returning Pakistanis were greeted warmly at the airport during the meeting.
Following the stunning overthrow of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad by rebels led by the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) group and its supporters, the Pakistanis were left stranded.
