The results of a recent study suggest that you might be taking a wise decision for your health.
According to a June 30 press release, the modest study discovered that young people’ skin carotenoids were “significantly increased” when they snacked on baby carrots merely three times per week.
Furthermore, the study discovered that the levels of these phytonutrients were increased even further when this healthful snack was paired with a multivitamin that contained the carotenoid beta-carotene.
Prior research suggests that eating three times the daily recommended intake of fruits and vegetables for three weeks can raise skin carotenoid levels. Mary Harper Simmons, an Alabama master’s student studying nutrition science at Samford University, says this is exactly what she did.
