NEW YORK/LONDON: Muhammad Asif Hafeez, a Pakistani national and gold trader from Lahore, entered a guilty plea to drug trafficking charges in the United States after being named in a global drug case that also implicated Bollywood actress Mumta Kulkarni and her husband Vicky Goswami, an Indian Mandrax mastermind who once described how he and his associates were determined to control the drug trade in South Africa.
Hafeez, also known as the “Sultan of Drugs,” “the big boss,” and “number one in the world” by US law enforcement, pled guilty in Manhattan federal court to conspiring to bring heroin, methamphetamine, and hashish into the United States, according to United States Attorney Damian Williams for the Southern District of New York.
Before US Magistrate Judge Stewart D., he entered a guilty plea.
