ISLAMABAD A concerning issue that could have far-reaching effects on hundreds of thousands of Pakistanis is that a number of Gulf nations have voiced their concerns about the labor force and expats from Pakistan.
The information was disclosed at a Senate Standing Committee on Overseas Pakistanis meeting. Secretary Dr. Arshad for Overseas Pakistanis informed the group that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have expressed concerns about a number of issues pertaining to Pakistanis living abroad.
The revelation comes months after the government told the same council in September 2023 that the majority of Pakistanis departing the nation are beggars.
According to the authority, beggars from Pakistan travel to Iraq and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia pretending to be ziarat. Most tourists with Umrah permits enter Saudi Arabia and engage in beggarly acts afterward.
Ninety percent of the beggars who were arrested, according to the secretary, were Pakistanis.
