QUETTA: Following the announcement of a shutter-down strike by Jamiat Ulema-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) over “rigging” in the re-polling in the Balochistan Assembly’s constituency PB-45 Quetta VIII, the provincial government has banned internet and mobile service in Quetta, the capital of Balochistan.
“The protest will continue until we get our rights,” declared the provincial emir of the JUI-F, declaring a strike to begin today.
According to unofficial and unverified results, Ali Madad Khattak of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) won the re-election in the PB-45 constituency with 6,883 votes.
With 4,122 votes, Nasarullah Zayrai, a candidate for the Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PMAP), came in second. Usman Pirkani of JUI-F received 3,731 votes, placing him in third place.
It should be noted that this seat was previously won by Haji Ali Madad Jattak of the Pakistan Peoples’ Party.
