According to the world governing body FIFA, Saudi Arabia will host the 2034 men’s football World Cup, while Spain, Portugal, and Morocco will share hosting duties for the 2030 competition.
To commemorate the competition’s 100th anniversary, three matches in the 2030 tournament will also take place in Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay.
Following a vote, the hosts of both World Cups were confirmed during the Extraordinary Fifa Congress meeting on Wednesday.
Through a video link, representatives from all 211 of FIFA’s member countries attended the conference.
Two different ballots were used to confirm the hosts for the 2030 centennial celebrations as well as for both tournaments.
Uruguay, Paraguay, and Argentina were initially chosen to host the centennial.
The second confirmed Saudi Arabia and the three 2030 hosts.
