Gareth Southgate’s team played Slovakia on Sunday, putting on another lackluster display.
Jude Bellingham’s overhead kick five minutes into extra time, one day after turning twenty-one, ensured that England tied the match 1-1 and sent it into overtime. After that, a header from Harry Kane gave England the victory.
But not all of the England supporters who paid to fly to Germany to watch the team saw the change.
Frustrated with the team’s performance during the ninety minutes of regular time, a few fans had departed early.
When asked what they thought of the game, a fan told News that it was “shite.”
“Southgate’s gone ain’t he, he’s gone on his holiday,” they said. The players will take up the next two years. It is the only thing they can do.
Nonetheless, others who celebrated the return were in a better mood. One fan said to News, “Jude is our savior.” Where would we be if it weren’t for Jude?”
