In a demonstration video, a Harvard student is seen utilizing the technology to swiftly learn information on the woman seated next to him at a Boston train station.
The experiment was created by Anh Phu Nguyen and Caine Ardayfio to highlight how simple it is to use smart glasses maliciously.
“Are we ready for a world where our data is exposed at a glance?” Mr. Nguyen enquired on X in a post.
Researchers Nguyen (human enhancement) and Ardayfio (physics) used readily available commercial technologies to develop the facial recognition glasses.
Using a pair of Meta’s smart glasses, they sent live recordings to a computer. Artificial intelligence was then utilized to identify when a face was being seen by the glasses.
Utilizing that initial, real image, the machine searched through news articles and voter registration databases for more images of the individual.
