On August 26, 1912, John Tinniswood was born in Liverpool—the year the Titanic sank. Back in April, he surpassed all living men in the world in age.
Mr. Tinniswood continued by saying he does not adhere to any certain diet, with the exception of eating a portion of battered fish and chips every Friday.
Mr. Tinniswood, who is 112 years old, is the oldest living male veteran of World War II and has lived through both wars.
He was employed by the Royal Army Pay Corps in an administrative capacity. His duties included accounting and auditing in addition to logistical duties including finding stranded soldiers and arranging food supply.
He worked as an accountant for Shell and BP after leaving the army, retiring in 1972.
Before Blodwen passed away in 1986, he had a happy 44-year marriage to her, having met her at a dance in Liverpool.
In 1943, their daughter Susan was born. In addition, Mr. Tinniswood has three great-grandchildren and four grandkids.
He has been a longtime supporter of Liverpool FC and has witnessed eight of the team’s FA Cup victories and seventeen of its nineteen league title victories.
