The recent statement from the military’s media wing has alarmed Sher Afzal Marwat, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), who claims that the party still has difficulties as a result of former spy chief Faiz Hamid’s troubles.
His comments were made just hours after the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) declared that former Lieutenant General Faiz had been officially charged with a number of offenses, including breaking the Official Secrets Act and participating in political activities.
According to the army’s public affairs wing, on August 12, the retired general was the target of a field general court-martial (FGCM) under the terms of the Pakistan Army Act.
Comparing General Faiz to General (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa, the 53-year-old Lakki Marwat lawmaker stated.
