RAWALPINDI: According to a statement released by the Pakistan Navy on Thursday, it has rescued an Iranian fishing dhow in the Gulf of Aden that had 23 fishermen on board.
PNS Zulfiquar, on a regional maritime security patrol, reacted to the distress call from Fishing Dhow AL Muhammadi, which was stranded more than 1,200 nautical miles from its home port, according to the Pakistan Navy’s official statement.
According to the statement, “the fishing dhow reported a seriously injured crew member as well as a defective engine and requested necessary assistance upon communication with the Pakistan Navy ship.”
When the fisherman hurt his hand fixing the boat’s engine, the Pakistani ship reacted quickly and sent medical and technical personnel to treat him.
