The contentious 2022 legislation, which has the support of the Republican governor, prohibits gender identity and sexual orientation from being taught in lower education.
Supporters of Disney controlled the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District for the majority of its fifty years, and it provided municipal services including planning, firefighting, and mosquito control.
A board that Mr. DeSantis chose to oversee construction around the theme parks filed a lawsuit against Disney with the intention of nullifying “backroom deals” that benefited the massive entertainment company.
Earlier this year, when he was running for the Republican presidential nomination, Mr. DeSantis used Disney as a punching bag in speeches made on the campaign trail. He eventually decided to halt his campaign.
