Washington, D.C. As worries about President Biden’s aging and mental capacity mount, Vice President Harris declared she was prepared to take over as president, drawing criticism from Republican politicians and encouragement from her fellow Democrats.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., responded, “She’s vice president of the United States,” when asked if Harris was prepared to lead the country. “She better be.”
The New York Democrat continued, saying that Harris has been “doing a solid job as vice president” and that it is significantly her constitutional duty “to stand at the ready.”
Attorney General Merrick Garland’s appointed Special Counsel Robert Hur published an investigative report last week that, in part because of the president’s possible defense, recommended against filing charges against Biden for his activities over the improper handling of classified documents.
In court as a “sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory.”
Ahead of the report’s publication, Harris stated in an interview that she was “ready to serve” in response to the claim that President Biden’s age and mental capacity were being scrutinized more by Republicans.
“I am prepared to assist. Everyone who sees Harris’s work “walks away fully aware of my capacity to lead,” she said to The Wall Street Journal. “There’s no question about that.”
