Prince Rahim Aga Khan was presented with the Nishan-e-Pakistan, the highest civilian honor in the country, by President Asif Ali Zardari on Friday.
The award, which was presented at the President’s official house in Islamabad, Aiwan-e-Sadr, honours those who have served Pakistan with the utmost distinction.
Prince Rahim is now in Pakistan to meet with government representatives, leaders of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), and members of the Ismaili community. He is also reviewing AKDN projects in the areas of renewable energy, microfinance, and information technology.
The award statement highlights Prince Rahim’s positions as Chair of the Aga Khan Development Network’s Environment and Climate Committee and Chair of the Aga Khan Fund for Economic Development, saying that Prince Rahim Aga Khan, via his several leadership responsibilities within the Aga Khan Development Network, has, for more than a quarter century, dedicated his untiring efforts to improving the quality of life of peoples in resource-constrained regions of Asia and Africa.”
